...A francophile too are you? :D I figured for the sake of language barriers yeah...I read parts of La Cage Au Folies in my French Lit class...it was hilarious
Velvet Goldmine is a duh. There's also Better Than Chocolate and such.
Plenty of othes. Once the memory features is working again, check my memories. I have added a gay movie listing to it. It's very conclusive. I was going to link you, but memories are all, you know, down right now.
Velvet Goldmine (boys in eyeliner) Wolves of Kromer (boys dressed as wolves with tails and ears) The Birdcage (as mentioned, it's good for a laugh) Bishounen (Chinese language movie - but it's about pretty male whores!) Mambo Italiano (all laughs and fluff) Dark Harbour (there's a scene at the end you won't wanna miss) Priscilla Queen of the Desert (drag queens) Hedwig and the Angry Inch (music and drag queen)
I recommend all the ones memarkw said as well as: Eden's Curve You'll Get Over It (French) Gone, But Not Forgotten Y Tu Mama Tambien (Spanish-Not really gay, but there is a boy on boy makeout scene that's super hot) Bad Education (Spanish-very serious subject matter. Not for the squeamish) Locked Up Wilde
"Beautiful Thing" Once upon a time it seemed like all gay guys saw this movie first.. but then again there is more on offer now..
"The Broken Hearts Club" A good movie, somewhat real, somewhat stereotypical.. but such is half of us... Good movie about friendships, and what everyone would like, a small group of friends whom care.. good luck finding it though, it's not easy out there in gay-town..
"Mambo Italiano" A pretty good movie, I guess it's about friendship/relationships, Italian culture which can be understood by other cultures.
"Get Real" School boy crush, turns out to be gay too, relationship. coming out on stage, stereotypical as far as meeting guys is concerned i guess.. some of us don't do the toilet thing!!
"Latter Days" (one of the best) It's high up there on my faves, it's a movie about a Mormon boy who is coming to terms with his sexuality, and later rejected by his religion and family etc... a roller-coaster of emotions.. a must have/see!
"But I'm A Cheerleader" True, i guess more of a lesbian film, but still funny for all! I haven't seen it in a while, but it was pretty good i recall, take place at and around a de-gayification camp basically...
"Speedway Junky" not fully "Gay" but, has gay characters, including the yummy straight (lead) boy Jesse Bradford, and the bisexual/buy-sexual JTT himself Johnathan Taylor Thomas
"CAMP" Good movie, I think if you liked the movie 'Centre Stage' you'd like this one.
"Hedwig and the Angry Inch" Not everyone has the capacity to pay attention and connect with Hedwig, I found it a very moving film, a great storyline, a journey, good music which tells the story. '6 inches forward and 5 inches back, i gotta, i got an angry inch!', dramatic, funny, documentative, touching, confusing, very deep movie i guess...
As well as those listed above, Lilies, Urbania and Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss. And maybe Priscila Queen of the Desert, although it's boytouching-light.
Some that haven't been mentioned: A Beautiful Thing (English), Burnt Money (Argentinian gay gangsters on the run), His Secret Life (Italian), El Diputado (Spanish)
Maurice! - see icon! The velocity of gary, For a lost soldier ( though this is a love story between a youth and a soldier and some might not like), Jeffrey. A month in the country is a bit slashy - only a little though.
Bent (beautiful movie, though it's terribly sad - oh, and it's got Sir Ian McKellen in it!) Priest Anders als die anderen ("Different from the others") (first gay movie ever - silent film from 1919)
