Right, seeing as it's Lord of the Rings time of year again, can I just ask anyone thinking of posting touchy pics of the boys, to check back at least one day to see it hasn't already been posted please?

I know I know, it's a real pain. But older members will remember the trouble we had last year with the sudden surge of LotR pictures, and the eventual repetition of them.

I'm a massive fan of the guys, so I completely understand you wanting to post photos of them being cute together, but please realise that not everyone is feelin' the LotR thing, so just have some consideration for fellow members.

Checking back is great, so we don't get the same pic three days in a row, and also remember that LJ Cut is your best friend, not only for big pictures, but also I think all Lord of the Rings pictures should be placed behind a cut after a while (say, a week from now? if the craze is still going strong? - let me know if you think otherwise) to let the non-Rings fans have the choice of whether to look or not.

I hope this seems fair. It's just I don't want flame wars starting again... for our number of members we do alarming well, there's hardly ever any trouble in here (and I love you all for that :D), and I hope you agree with me in wanting to keep it that way.

I love your lj icon. Reminds me of how once in the common room my friend was reading one of the LOTRs books and I randomly said "Those hobbits are so gay. Man its great". She now teases me about my love for guy on guy action, even signing my notebook with "When you get into the gay porn industry..."

lol that reminds me, tomorrow I'm gonna pick up my ticket to a midnight screening that's showing here in 2 weeks I think.

will have to sit with my friends and after the movie announce to them. "I've gotg a new saying. Fucking like hobbits. Those hobbits are so in love". Then one of them is bound to say "Kirsty do you have to make everything be gay?".

I definitely support the checking thing, and I'm all in favor of cut-tags for the bigger pictures, but I don't think it's really necessary -- or even fair -- to cut all LotR pictures. I get that not everyone is into the LotR guys, but I'm not into all the band-touching pictures, and I don't get huffy about them, because I realize that there are plenty of people on there who do like them. It's not exactly difficult to scroll past the pictures if you don't want to see them. *grin*

I suppose. We'll see how it goes really, cos it did get a little bit manic last year with all the posting. I doubt anyone will remember to do it anyway in a week, so we'll see how it pans out :)

Actually, and I speak as someone who's really here for the band touchin', I would support not only lj-cutting all the lotr pics, but ALL the pics, if you can manage it.

Then no one has to look at what they don't want...the pervy hobbit fanciers can get their fix, the bandslashers can get theirs, and we'll never have to be touched by the ICKY that is the other side.*

Or I dunno. I'm no mod, nor was meant to be...

I can see your point, but I'd rather not let it get to that stage if possible. I think it's still nice to have pictures on your friends page (I like it, anyway!) and I'd like to think of someone checking out the community and seeing the odd picture, rather than just a long list of Lj-cuts...


And - and I'm saying this generally to anyone who's reading, not just you :) - I don't want this thread to be a debate on band-touching, because with all our members there's bound to be different tastes (which is like, the whole point of this post in the first place really), and we just have to accept that.

I don't want the LotR fans to feel like they're being punished, because they *so* aren't. I'm just trying to avoid all the mess that happened last time those darn Rings boys were all over the media...

I support the checking back thing cuz it gets ridiculous. It's almost as if we have to treat lotr a s a show like Queer Eye or QaF and just assume there will be boytouching associated with it.

Regardless, I don't know about cutting everything necessarily, but the actual rule in the community info is to cut multiple pictures, and that's really all I ask. While I am not partial towards either LoTR or bands in particular, I understand the LoTR people's side in that they don't necessarily like seeing the band photo. So let the first one through, and cut the rest. Everyone seems to be doing that anyway, I think.

Personally, the things I hate the most are when people post only cuts that say things like "be still my quaking heart" because they give no information and when people post things like "omg Jay just touched Enrique" because I have no idea who either of them are and there are no images or even links to help. So while we're at it, perhaps they can be frowned upon as well.
