And everyone MUST go see My Own Private Idaho immediately. It's an incredible film, from one of my all-time favorite directors (Gus Van Sant). And yes, Gus is gay, so boytouching comes up more than once in his body of work. And he directed a Hanson video! What more could a girl want? =0D

His new film is called Elephant, which is about a columbine-like highschool massacre, and it's supposed to be really good tho rather dark and sorta experimental. It does actually have a boytouching moment which garnered a bit of controversy, in which the two guys who are going to commit the massacre kiss in the shower the night before it happens. However, Gus said it could be interpereted in many ways, and doesn't really necessarily mean the characters are gay.

Ack! I haven't had the chance to see that yet but I really, really want to! Some of the reviews have been crappy... but you usually get crappy reviews on any film that gets a bit experimental. People just don't get it I suppose...

Saw Elephant

Saw Elephant Here in Vancouver at the film festival. Was a great movie. Shocked the Indie movie crowd though. I think it touched too close to home for them. No subtitles or exotic location. Yes there are cute boys in it. Lots actualy.
and the quick shower scene.
It places you in a very normal suburban setting (Portland OR)
I lived in Portland and was involved in art scene so it was not hard to bump into Gus Van Saint walking around the city at the time.
I am just wondering what he thinks of Elliott Smith death (another Portland OR artist at one time) since his music (Miss Misery) was in Good Will Hunting.
