Here's a blast from my past... The Two of Us - made a HUGE kerfuffle in 1987 when it was made as a school's programme by the BBC. Press coverage, near ban, all mixed up in the Clause 28 thing. Eventually shown in schools, but only after the 'Go Gay' ending was cut and the younger boy was seen tripping off into the sunset with his GIRLfriend. The beeb showed the uncut version once, late at night as a kind of protest.

Phil (the younger by a year, played by Lee Whitlock) has a girlfriend, but realises that he is in love with his mate Matthew (the blonde, played by Jason Rush). Matthew knows he is gay, Phil thinks he is bisexual. The pair start a relationship (oh so chaste - this was a school's programme remember!) and when they get harassed and called names they run away to Brighton - for their "honeymoon". They stay for a while, meet a teenage runaway and angst for some time. Then Phil calls his girlfriend who comes to 'rescue' him and take him home. They head off for the train station embracing, leaving matthew who has decided to stay in Brighton where he can be himself. This is where the school's version ended
The original and uncut version however, sees Phil return from the station and run into his partners arms... aw! ( no caps of that bit tho.. sorry!

Quality is poor - dodgy dvd to video transfer

::scratches head:: Didn't the BBC also run Queer As Folk, albeit not as a school program, of course.
