I bragged about a LJ RPing community I'm a part of a while ago, and I think it's high time to mention it again. :3 If you're interested, take a look at haiyuki_high, a Japanese boarding school for boys. Make up a character, give him a history, and then introduce him to his schoolmates and see what happens. :3 There's far more involved than just simple classes.

The community has a website that has a lot of really helpful information about the RP, and you can always talk to the moderators. ^_^ Both of them are lovely people, and they're always willing to help.
